Trip to Algarve, Portugal

Welcome to the captivating region of Algarve, located in the southernmost part of Portugal. Renowned for its breathtaking coastlines, picturesque beaches, charming fishing villages, and vibrant culture, the Algarve is a destination that promises an unforgettable travel experience.

In the south of Portugal, the Algarve offers immense beaches but also impressive cliffs, magnificent cities and dry hills … Here, the Atlantic Ocean takes on Mediterranean accents. With 2,800 hours of sunshine a year, it is no surprise that the region is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. And what better way to escape in the late summer or summer? The Algarve is worth it!

Day 1: Arrival in Faro, Gateway to the Algarve

Upon arrival at Faro International Airport, you’ll immediately be greeted by the region’s warm and welcoming atmosphere. After settling into your accommodation, take some time to explore the city of Faro itself. Wander through its historical center, admire the ancient city walls, and visit the stunning Faro Cathedral. In the evening, savor traditional Portuguese cuisine at a local restaurant.

Begin your day with a short drive to Lagos, a charming coastal town with a rich maritime history. Stroll through the narrow, cobbled streets of the old town, and visit the 17th-century Church of St. Anthony. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the famous Ponta da Piedade, a breathtaking cliff formation that offers stunning views of the rugged coastline and crystal-clear waters below. Enjoy a boat tour to discover hidden caves and grottoes along the coastline.

Head to Albufeira, one of the Algarve’s most popular beach destinations. Spend your day relaxing on the golden sands, soaking up the sun, and swimming in the azure waters of Praia da Oura or Praia dos Pescadores. Explore the lively town center, dotted with shops, restaurants, and bars. In the evening, indulge in a delightful seafood dinner while enjoying the vibrant nightlife.

Embark on a scenic drive to Sagres, a town steeped in nautical history. Explore the imposing fortress of Sagres, once a school of navigation, and take in the panoramic views from the towering cliffs. Journey to Cape St. Vincent, the southwesternmost point of Europe, and witness the dramatic clash of the Atlantic Ocean against the rugged cliffs. End your day with a breathtaking sunset over the ocean.

With a facet both maritime and country, the Algarve offers both meat dishes and seafood … or sometimes both mixed! The dishes are often mixed with sugar – salted … Let your taste buds treat you!
